Land Between the Lakes

A 170,000 acre outdoors playground, Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is just a short drive from Oak Grove. LBL is an inland peninsula formed when the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers were impounded, creating Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, one of the world's largest man-made bodies of water. The area provides opportunities for boating, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, camping and over 200 miles of hiking trails. LBL also features the Homeplace 1850, a working farm that displays life in the region during the 19th century, a planetaium and one of the largest remaining herds of buffalo in the United States.
